Time is only movement, SUPER

Athens, 2016

Time is only movement, is the first solo exhibition of the artist duo Timon and Melchior Grau at SUPER in Athens. Timon and Melchior Grau staged their performance "Time is only Movement" in the context of Documenta 14. For the duration of the work, two people walk through the exhibition space without any pre-planned choreography. The continuous gesture and shared presence in the space creates a dynamic relationship between viewer and performer, between subject and object. The performers neither actively communicate with the audience nor ignore their presence. They move forward.

While Timon and Melchior did not speak to each other for most of the performance, on the last day of the performance they began a dialog about an object that moves through spaces, constantly changing its environment and how people perceive it. This idea led to the first GRAU-design by Timon and Melchior Grau: Parrot.

Parrot is a portable and multifunctional floor lamp that interacts with its users. Its body can be rotated, Height adjustable and mobile. Parrot's shape refers to the human figure: a thin head on a long body with large feet.

Curators: Paul Makowsky, Lukas Panek
